5 alternatives to AirPods Pro, at less cost

Apple’s active noise canceling wireless headphones are great, but there are alternatives that are just as great for those who don’t feel like spending $ 279.

Introduced a few months ago, Apple’s AirPods Pro have been praised by users and critics alike. But they are quite expensive and face equally remarkable and often more affordable competitors. Here is our selection of alternative True-Wireless headphones.

1. Sony WF-1000XM3: the best alternative to AirPods Pro

Although they are (a little) lower priced than the AirPods Pro, Sony’s wireless headphones also offer active noise reduction as well as a transparency mode. In addition, like the AirPods, they are equipped with a sensor that automatically pauses the music when you remove an earphone from the ear. They also offer precise audio reproduction across the entire spectrum, superior to that of AirPods Pro, and excellent battery life. Their only flaw is that they are not resistant to sweat or water which does not allow intensive sports use. If the Sony WF-1000XM3 are well placed in our ranking of the best true-wireless headphones, it is not for nothing.

Sony WF-1000XM3
Sony hits hard with its WF-1000XM3. Indeed, the Japanese sign quite simply the best true-wireless of the year. These headphones have it all: an elegant design offering good comfort, a reliable Bluetooth 5.0 connection, low latency, refined audio quality with powerful but controlled bass, 6 hours of battery life above average, fast USB charging – C and above all, impressive active noise reduction. We don’t have much to complain about, their main flaws are the lack of resistance to sweat (to be avoided for sports therefore), the lack of volume settings via the earbuds and their high price. However, if you have the budget, there is no hesitation, the WF-1000XM3 are now our benchmark for true-wireless headphones.

2. Anker Soundcore Liberty 2 Pro: the alternative with the best value for money

Anker offers more and more credible alternatives to AirPods Pro, and at prices that are still just as competitive. This is the case of the Anker Soundcore Liberty 2 Pro, True-Wireless headphones with a similar design, but offered at only € 119.99. For this price, we benefit from a listening quality that is overall equivalent, or even superior to that of AirPods Pro, and even a fairly close RBA … provided that the headphones suit your body type (they are not suitable for everyone. world, that was the big flaw we experienced during our test). The headphones also benefit from good battery life (6 hours with the RBA), Bluetooth 5.0 and IPX4 certification against sweat. It’s hard to find better at this price, especially since they are currently on sale at € 99.99. For us, it is the alternative with the best value for money on the market.

Anker Soundcore Liberty Air 2 Pro
After the Soundcore Liberty Air 1 and 2 offering an excellent quality / price ratio, we go up a notch with the Liberty Air 2 Pro, equipped with a good quality active noise reduction for a price certainly a little higher but all the same content. For the price, the sound is really very good, the headphones have a powerful Bluetooth 5 connection (but without multipoint) and a very good battery life of 6 hours, plus 15 in the case which is also Qi compatible (wireless charging). As a bonus, the headphones are resistant to water projections (IPX4). But to have these performances, the headphones must suit your body type. This is the major flaw of this model. Although it comes with many ear tips for all sizes, the ear cups do not fit into the ear canal enough so they will not always fit well and some might struggle to achieve a good sound seal. Despite this, and thanks to their technical data sheet that we usually find on more expensive models, these headphones offer, in our opinion, one of the best quality / price ratios on the market.

3. Jabra Elite Active 75t: the most versatile, but without real active noise reduction

The Elite 75t, and Active 75t (sport version) are two excellent models that also feature in our pick of the best headphones. They are noticeably cheaper than AirPods Pro and both have a fast charging case (15 minutes is 90 minutes of listening). In addition, they’re sweat-resistant and even completely waterproof in the case of the Active, and sound at least as good, if not better, than the AirPods Pro. At less than 170 € for the 75t and less than 200 € for the Active, these Jabra headphones offer excellent value for money, all they need is real active noise reduction (theirs was added by update and does not work very well) to check all the boxes.

Jabra Elite Active 75t
Jabra is further refining its True Wireless headphones recipe and delivering Elite Active 75t units that are 22% more compact, lighter but also more comfortable, all without compromising on fit in the ears, audio quality or the reliability of the wireless connection. , so many elements that made the strength of the brand’s previous headphones. In addition, this new model is completely waterproof, which means that you can use them for swimming or in the shower without fear. Autonomy now rises to 7.5h in the headphones plus 20.5h in the case, which is satisfactory. We just regret the absence of active noise reduction or AirPods-style wireless charging, but the Jabra Elite Active 75t remain the worthy heirs of the excellent 65t. So you can go there without risk even if we find the total tightness a bit gimmicky.

4. Anker Soundcore Liberty Air 2, “AirPods Pro like” less than 100 euros

The Anker Soundcore Liberty Air 2 are a safe bet and a great alternative to AirPods Pro. For a fraction of the price of Apple’s noise-canceling wireless headphones, these headphones deliver top-notch sound and features. The design and specification are close to what Apple does, less active noise reduction, but not the price.

Anker Soundcore Liberty Air 2
The props maker Anker and his Soundcore brand has made a name for itself in the entry-level audio product market, in particular thanks to a few devices offering excellent value for money, such as these Liberty Air 2. The first generation was already very interesting, for this new generation the brand has improved the autonomy of the headphones, the quality of calls and modernized connectivity by providing them with USB-C and wireless charging. The Bluetooth 5 connection remains as stable and efficient as before but gains a new function, the use of a single earpiece, and the audio quality is still very good for the price even if we find the sound a bit too much. brilliant. IPX5 certified, this product will also be suitable for athletes who can also control music playback via programmable touch controls. In short, these True Wireless headphones are clearly one of the best models under the 100 € mark.

5. Earfun Free: the cheapest alternative

Obviously, the Earfun Free will not offer all the refinements and all the features of the AirPods Pro given their price almost five times lower. But for less than $ 50, these headphones offer just mind-blowing value for money and features that are usually found on headphones over $ 100. You certainly won’t find better in this price bracket.

EarFun Free
The EarFun Free blew us away for totally wireless headphones for less than 50 euros. Although their design is as commonplace as that of other low-cost models, their performance is superior. We were also impressed with the features on offer: Bluetooth 5.0, USB-C and wireless charging, fully waterproof IPX7 design. As for the audio quality, it is surprisingly good for the price. Granted, the EarFun Free doesn’t have the clarity of high-end wireless headphones, but they deliver generous bass and a decent level of detail. An excellent product at a low price.

This alternative to AirPods Pro is 8x cheaper?

Good news: AUKEY and Amazon are back with a flash sale. The famous headphones drop to 33 €, or 51% discount (instead of 69 €).

Apple made its AirPods Pro official last November. These differ from all of the brand’s previous headphones in that they are in-ear. The silicone tips thus reduce the noise in the surroundings, which is very pleasant in some cases.

That said, the price of AirPods Pro remains high since it takes € 279 for them. Fortunately, there are good alternatives – like AUKEYs. The latter get a 51% flash discount on Amazon, which drops the price from € 69.99 to just € 33.99.

If you are looking for quality in-ear headphones, these AUKEY accessories are the answer. Rather than paying the Apple brand, you can opt for this solution whose value for money is much more convincing. The brand is known for making high-level wireless headphones, with quality sound and impeccable comfort. If you are looking for headphones with a noise canceling system, this is a very good choice.

AUKEY, a good alternative brand

In addition to the fact that AUKEY headphones are 8x cheaper than AirPods Pro (33 € against 279 €), the Chinese brand offers accessories unanimously recognized by tech specialists. Just look at the wireless headphones rating on the Amazon site: 74% of buyers gave the product the highest rating.

In terms of technical characteristics, AUKEY headphones meet all the premium requirements of the moment: an autonomy of 4 hours with the headphones, and 16 hours more via the storage box (which also serves as a charging base). They are obviously wireless, and they are waterproof (IPX5). In short, they have everything to compete with AirPods Pro, WF-1000XM3 or even Samsung Galaxy Buds – including audio quality. In short, you have everything to gain from going for these little accessories.

As we said above, these AUKEY headphones come with a noise reduction system. So that involves silicone tips – which not everyone will necessarily like. This is also the case with the alternatives (AirPods Pro etc) that we mentioned above. If you prefer to have headphones without silicone, it will not be possible to have noise reduction. That said, if you use public transport or work in shared offices, this is a very effective solution for focusing.
