Helmet Bro – Void Knight
“February 19, War Institute, East End of Town”
My brother Valan and I have been tasked with protecting the eastern front of the Institute. There were rumors of it coming from there
According to Summoners, it was something from the Void. Something that, while dangerous, should pose little threat to two talented knights like Valan and myself. In an hour we had our equipment ready and before dark we hid in the forest.
“February 21, War Institute, East End of Town”
Whatever it was, it got Valan in the night. We’re trained fighters, how could he overlook that thing.
It doesn’t matter now. He’s already dead. It was ashes. All that remained of him was his sword and helmet, both shimmering with a strange, purple energy.
Energy from the Void.
Before I was done grieving this whole damn situation, a ray of light shone down on me. That’s probably what killed Valan. I barely managed to dodge it. My cloak and sword were almost completely destroyed. I managed to run a few meters before he caught up with me.
God, he was huge. Higher than trees. Wriggling tentacles, three smaller eyes, like a crown over his largest eye. He was preparing to end my life.
However, he did not shoot. Summoners from the Institute arrived and barely managed to defeat the creature before it killed me. They took him with them and took him to the infirmary.
I didn’t even get to bury Valan.
“February 22, Institute of War, Hospital”
I’m fine, but they won’t let me go back into the woods to bury Valan. They won’t even let me leave this room – they want me to stay “observed”.
They want me to stay because then I won’t kill them all.
I heard their plans, their conversations. They let this monster live – this THING. The alien beast that killed my brother took from me the only thing I cared about in this world, and they’re letting it go. They make a deal with this thing! He would stay at the Institute and take part in their cursed League, in exchange for knowledge! I heard they’ve dealt with monsters before, but this… This is sick.
In a flash of dark light, something entered the infirmary, stunning the nurse sent to me. I instinctively got up to defend myself, but it wasn’t a threat.
It was salvation.
Kassadin, the Void Walker, came to me. He showed me three things; Valan’s sword and helmet, along with my own sword hilt, still sparkling with that malevolent energy.
Then he spoke to me. “If you want revenge, take this.” After that he disappeared.
I will never be able to thank him enough.
Putting on my equipment, I left the infirmary.
If they don’t fight the Void, I will.
I am not alone, Kassadin is by my side and Valan is watching me from the beyond.
Vel’Koz will pay. The Void will pay.
Valan Helmen is dead.
Marrak Helmen is dead.
My brother’s helmet is all that’s left.
