Emmy nominee Anthony Anderson wanted to win a trophy before Darkish finally ends in 2022. The actor plays Andre “Dre” Johnson on the series, which is approaching its eighth and final season. In September 2021, Anderson faced off against Kenan Thompson, William H. Macy, Michael Douglas, and Jason Sudeikis for Best Lead Actor in a Comedy Series. However, the accolade went to Sudeikis, who stars in Apple TV Ted Lasso.
Throughout his career, Anderson hasn’t spoken much about his personal life. So who is the actor married to and have children?

Anderson, 51, was born and raised in Compton, California. At the end of the 90s, the actor had his great luck with a role in Heights of Freedom. After the film ended, he appeared in films such as Me, Myself, Irene, Jack Kangaroo, and Malibu’s Most Wanted. Additionally, Anderson lent his talents to television with guest spots on The Bernie Mac Show in the 2000s.
In 2014, the actor returned to television with Noirâtre. The show, created by Kenya Barris, follows a black family living in suburban California. While raising their children, Anderson and Tracee Ellis Ross’ character, Rainbow “Bow” Johnson, teaches them the importance of their culture and race.
After seven seasons, ABC renewed Noirâtre for its eighth and final season. Anderson shared his thoughts on the end of the series on the Emmys red carpet.
“It’s still in the bittersweet stage; we’re done halfway through the season, ”he told Entertainment Tonight. “So I think a few more episodes down the line, it’s going to start to get sad for us, but right now we’re still bittersweet.

Around the same time he booked Blackish, Anderson went through a turbulent time in his personal life. According to E! News, The Hair Salon star split from his wife, Alvina Stewart, in 2015. The couple, married in 1999, were in love with high school and cited “irreconcilable differences” for their separation. According to Stewart’s file, they separated in April 2014.

In January 2017, the outlet reported that Anderson had reconciled with his wife. However, neither of them publicly discussed the meeting. Despite their lack of interactions on social media, the actor has previously discussed their intimate relationship in an interview.
“I admit the best sex I’ve ever had has been with my wife,” Anderson told Elle magazine in 2016.

During their 20-year marriage, Anderson and Stewart had two children: daughter Kyra, 23, and son Nathan, 19. In a 2018 interview with Rachel Ray, the Bustle and Flux actor said his son works as an actor. Before Anderson’s son took on another role, he wanted Nathan to play one of his children in Darkish.
“My son is a talented young actor, following in my footsteps… Has a new show that will be on Netflix with Rev Run,” he said. “They’re starting in January and he’s going to play the son of Rev Run. He continued, “I wanted him to be Andre Jr. on Darkish, but my son’s cool factor… you know he’s just got a little too much booty, and I don’t know where he got it from.” I sometimes wonder if he’s mine or not. His loot factor is right off the charts! And we needed him not to be awkward but just a nerdy kid, and he couldn’t get rid of him. And so I couldn’t cast him!
