Some players on Xbox One and Xbox Series S / X are experiencing a crash issue with Mass Effect Legendary Edition. Here’s how to fix it.
The legendary edition of Mass Effect released on May 14, 2021, and fans and newcomers to the franchise embark on the mammoth experience that is expected to take well over 100 hours to beat. However, some Shepards Commanders are experiencing a crash issue. Fortunately, there is a workaround for the Mass Effect Legendary Edition crashing issue.
Mass Effect crashing issue: how to fix
First of all, this is not a user error. Instead, Mass Effect Legendary Edition players on Xbox One and Xbox Series S / X are experiencing crashes and the issue is with the Xbox Wireless Headset.
In an article on Electronic Arts Support Forms, EA Community Manager David acknowledged the issue and explained that he is working with Microsoft to resolve the Mass Effect Legendary Edition crash issue as soon as possible with a post-launch update.
EA Support explains, “We have identified an issue with Mass Effect Legendary Edition on Xbox One and Xbox Series X | S, where the game will output to the dashboard if it is started while different accessories such as wireless headsets are connected.
“We are currently working with Microsoft to resolve this issue as soon as possible in a post-launch update. In the meantime, to start playing the game, we recommend that you do not use any additional peripherals until this is resolved. Wired headphones are still acceptable. “
There is a workaround for those who want to continue using their wireless headphones while playing Mass Effect Legendary Edition.
Resolve the Mass Effect crashing issue by:
- Make sure your wireless headset is turned off
- Launch Mass Effect Legendary Edition from the dashboard.
- Once you’re at the game launch screen, choose Mass Effect 1, 2, or 3.
(don’t turn on your headphones yet, we’re almost there) - Once you are at the title screen for Mass Effect 1, 2 or 3, you can now turn on your headphones and you will be able to play with the audio working normally.
If you return to the launcher to select Mass Effect 1, 2, or 3, at any time while your wireless headset is connected, the game will close and return you to the Xbox Dashboard.
Unfortunately, EA did not provide an ETA for the crashing issue to be permanently fixed via a Mass Effect Legendary Edition patch.
At the time of writing, this is the only fix available and appears to be exclusive to Xbox One and Xbox Series S / X consoles.
