[HOT] : Mass Effect Legendary Edition – How to Import Save Files

One of the big innovations of the ME series was the ability to import save files between games which are now hosted in Legendary Mass Effect Edition. The choices made in the first game were saved to your character and imported into Mass Effect 2, along with its save file and then imported into the third game in the franchise. All of your actions and decisions were then factored into the conclusion in one way or another, although some players found it a bit disappointing. Still, you can replicate that with the new upgraded reissue, but it does have a few sticking points. Here’s how to import save files into Mass Effect Legendary Edition.

How to Import and Transfer Save Files in Mass Effect Legendary Edition

Transferring your save file from Mass Effect to Mass Effect 2 and then to Mass Efffect 3 works quite similar in Legendary Edition to always have it. A big problem is that you have to complete the previous game before you can import the save file. You don’t have to complete all DLC or optional content, but you must have completed the final mission to see the end credits. This will mark your save file as importable in the next game in the series.

Once you have completed one of the games and are ready to start the next one, all you have to do is load it and choose New Game. There you will see the option to import the file from save the previous game. If you don’t see the file after you choose this option, it probably means that you haven’t completed the game and created the final save file compatible with the process.

One thing to keep in mind is that Sony and Microsoft handle intergenerational backups differently. Playing on Xbox One and Xbox Series X / S should be pretty seamless. You can play on the old generation, then switch to the new one and the game will pick up where you left off. However, the PS4 and the PS5 have a hard wall between them. So even if you have completed a game on PS4, it will not transfer to PS5 so that you can import it into subsequent games.

Mass Effect: Legendary Edition supports old save data for Mass Effect 2 and 3

Want to play Mass Effect 2 or Mass Effect 3 as you remember it in the new Mass Effect: Legendary Edition? With importing save data you can do this, but the original game files will need to be left in the past.

As confirmed by a Crumpe staff member, the save data for Mass Effect 2 and Mass Effect 3 on PC is compatible with both games in the Legendary Edition.

If you go to your Documents folder on PC and select BioWare, you’ll see your save files for all of the developer’s games in a row. Select Mass Effect 2 or Mass Effect 3, then select one of your characters and copy and paste the file into the corresponding folder under Legendary Edition. Once that’s done, you should be able to pick up where you left off, but with better visuals and other improvements!

The game that doesn’t work with is the original Mass Effect, as this game has undergone much bigger changes and improvements that have brought it in line with the other two. Trying to import this data will result in a corruption message, so don’t waste your time.

Oddly, Mass Effect: Legendary Edition is only the second game to support importing a Mass Effect 2 save file. Frog Fractions 2 also lets you do this – in fact, one of the puzzles in the game. game demands it, because developer Jim Crawford is nothing if not unique.

So far, Jordan Ramée de Crumpe has been impressed with Mass Effect: Legendary Edition.

“Overall, I love playing Mass Effect 1 again, which I never thought I’d say (I find the original game’s combat too frustrating). I can’t wait to come back and see how the Legendary Edition may have changed Mass Effect 2 and Mass Effect 3 as well, ”he said in our ongoing Mass Effect: Legendary Edition review.

We also have a whole bunch of Mass Effect: Legendary Edition guides in case you get stuck. If you don’t play on PC and want to transfer Legendary Edition save data to a newer system, be sure to play on Xbox. PlayStation does not support intergenerational save transfers.
