[HOT] : WhatsApp tests View Once messages, a smaller version of messages that disappear

WhatsApp introduced the messages that disappear in November, these allow you to send texts, images and other media which will be automatically deleted after 7 days. But what if it’s too long? The instant messaging app is testing a new feature called Show Messages Once.

They do what is written on the box – the recipient can see the photo or video and it will disappear immediately after closing. This type of message does not of course have any preview in the notification area or on the lock screen.

View Once messages can be sent in individual and group chats. The feature is activated by pressing the 1 circled in the text box:

Activate View Once mode • A notification when you receive a View Once image

Interestingly, this feature works even if the recipient’s app does not yet support it – the message will disappear after first viewing. This is good because currently only the beta version of the Android application (2.21.14.3) supports sending such messages.

Keep in mind that WhatsApp does not protect against screenshots or screen recording, which can thwart View Once messages. The app won’t even alert you if the recipient has captured the message.
