How to add a Bluetooth speaker to Alexa to use instead of the one on your Amazon Echo.
Amazon has several Amazon Echo models available, from the basic Echo Dot to an Echo Plus with a better speaker. But you already spent money on having an external speaker with Bluetooth technology, you don’t have to buy an Echo Plus to listen to your music, since you can pair the speaker with an Echo or Echo Dot to raise your level. Alexa will still hear you through the Echo, but her responses and music will come through the speaker.
And that is precisely what we are going to explain today, How to add a Bluetooth speaker to Alexa to replace it with the one in your Amazon Echo. To do this, all you will need is the Alexa application on your mobile and that the Bluetooth coverage of your speaker reaches the Amazon Echo so that it can detect and synchronize it.
Connect a Bluetooth speaker to your Amazon Echo
The first thing you have to do is open the Alexa mobile application on your Android device or iPhone. Once in it, open the left side menu to show its main options, and in it click on the Settings option that you have underneath everything.
Once you enter the configuration, you have to click on the Device Settings option. By doing this, instead of making adjustments to the Alexa settings, you will make them directly on the Echo device that you want to link to your speaker.
But before going into the settings, you have to choose the device with Alexa in which you want to make the changes. A list will appear with all those that you have linked to your Amazon account, and you will only have to click on the Echo that you want to connect with your Bluetooth speaker.
Now you will enter a screen where you can edit various aspects of your device, from the volume of the speakers to the WiFi network to which they are connected. In this menu, click on the option Bluetooth devices to go on to configure the connection between the speaker you have selected and the Amazon Echo.
You will go to a screen where if you have paired a Bluetooth speaker in the past, it will appear in a list above. In any case, to add a new speaker click on the button Link a new device that you have at the bottom.
When you do, your Amazon Echo will start searching for Bluetooth devices near it. It is important that the speaker is also in discovery or pairing mode. If you don’t know how to do it, look at its manual, since each model has a different procedure. Once your Amazon Echo detects it, click on the name of the speaker to link Enter the list that will appear below.
And that’s it, your speaker will have been configured and will appear in the list of linked devices in the Bluetooth Devices option. From her you can also disconnect the speaker whenever you want clicking on the arrow to the right of the name. If, in addition to disconnecting it, you want it to stop appearing in the list to link it quickly, you have the option Forget device.
