Before starting the process of requesting a new Pokéstop, it is worth mentioning that this action is only possible for players with at least level 38. If you are at this level, just follow the steps described below:

Step 1: When you find a good place to nominate, tap the Poké Ball icon inside the game to open the menu and go to “Settings”.

Step 3:this step involves indicating where the Pokéstop will be located. Generally, the game itself adjusts the location by GPS, but you can move the pointer on the map to indicate the most accurate location.

Step 4:take the photo that will serve as an illustration of Pokéstop (and that is inside the circle that is rotated in the game). Some people have reported that the game sometimes crashes in this part; in case it happens to you, a good way out is to download a camera app, restart the game and redo the steps.

Step 5:take a photo showing the surroundings (hint: try to include the dot you are indicating as Pokéstop, as this will help players who will evaluate the request to see that the location actually exists), then put a title, description and justification for the order.

Step 6:review all the information you have entered and, if everything is correct, tap the “Submit” button and wait for confirmation that the request has been received.

Which locations can be Pokéstop?

Virtually any place that is accessible to the public, whether urban or rural, can become a Pokéstop. The best indications are graffiti, statues, parks, churches, public buildings (such as city hall, museum and post offices), drawings and common outdoor areas, such as spaces for physical activity.

What a lot of people don’t know is that, during the pandemic period, it is also possible to add areas even closer to you. If you live in a condominium, for example, all living areas (such as playgrounds) are eligible, which helps a lot to bring a Pokéstop closer to you.

It is worth mentioning that areas within the house or farms (considered private locations), police stations, fire stations, hospital entrances and even very generic elements of nature (such as a tree – unless it has some connection with a fact history) will cause the request to be rejected almost immediately.

Accelerating the inclusion of Pokéstop

Once the Pokéstop nomination is made, there is a way to make it enter the vote faster: evaluating other requests sent by the community on the Niantic Wayfarer website.

On the page, create an account linking the credential you use to play Pokémon GO, complete the tutorial and start evaluating referrals from other trainers (this system is also only valid for players above level 38). Your ratings will be saved, and whenever you give a positive review or decline a referral and other community members agree with you, you’ll earn a point. With 100, you get a Improvement Point.

With this, your nomination goes ahead in the priority queue and goes to vote within 24 hours. You can indicate in which request you want to invest this point or allow the system to do it for you, automatically assigning it to the oldest in the list. If the community agrees with the suggestion, it will be added to the game at 3pm the next day.
