How to recover deleted WhatsApp messages and files using WAMR on Android

We are going to explain to you how to use WAMR application to recover deleted WhatsApp messages, an application that is only available on Android, so you will need a mobile with this operating system to use it. It will help you to recover certain types of messages as well as multimedia files such as received photographs.

Something you should know is that to recover deleted messages and files you will have to have previously installed the app, so you will not be able to recover anything deleted before doing it. The app works copying what you receive through notifications, which means that it has many other limits that we will comment on before starting to guide you through its configuration. This cannot work if you use two WhatsApp accounts.

The limits of WAMR

As we have said, this application works by recording what you receive in Android notifications. This means that You will only be able to recover the messages that have reached you by a notification, since it does not collect or save everything you receive on WhatsApp itself. This assumes that it has the following limits:

  • It only works on messages you receive in a notification. If you have some chats silenced, blocked, or if you have the mobile with the notifications silenced, then the messages will not be saved and if you delete them you will not be able to recover them.
  • It does not work when you have the chat open. If you have WhatsApp open and you are in the conversation, then when the other person writes the text, it will not reach you through a notification to Android. This means that this text will not be saved.
  • It only works if the mobile is on with WAMR active. You only receive notifications with the mobile on, that is, no messages will be saved while it is off. In the same way, WAMR cannot save messages that you receive when the application is not active or installed.
  • You need to have automatic file download activated multimedia in WhatsApp if you want these to be saved with the application. In addition, you will have to be connected to a WiFi for them to download.
  • Only files that have been downloaded: In the same way as in the previous point, to recover multimedia elements such as photos, videos or voice notes, they must have finished downloading before being deleted by you or by the other person.

How to set up and use WAMR

The first thing you have to do is download the application on your Android mobile. To do this, you have to enter your Google Play profile, and click on the Install button. It is a free application, so you do not have to pay anything to use it.

Once installed, open the app to go to the setup process. First you will see a warning about its terms and conditions in which you simply have to click on Accept. On the second welcome screen, click on the right arrow to move forward, and on the third page, choose WhatsApp from the list of applications. As you will see from the list, you can use this app to save messages from many other apps.

You will go to a fourth screen that shows you how the app works. In the next two screens according to progress, you will be told the limits of the application that we have told you above. Both message and multimedia file limits. Read the limits carefully so you can understand in which cases it will not work for you.

Finally, on the penultimate screen of the process, you will have to click on * Enable in the type of content you want to save. For a start, click on the Notification reader option, which will take you to an Android notification access settings screen. In her, click on WAMR to give access permission to notifications and thus be able to save them.

And if you click on Media files, you will have to give the app permission to access the multimedia files what’s on your mobile. If not, you will not be able to see the ones that come to you through WhatsApp notifications, and you will not be able to save them.

And finally, you will have a last screen with more of the limitations of the application, since it makes sure that you understand them well. Read and click on the accept button.

From here, you can use the application normally. It will work in the background, and will notify you when someone deletes a message or delete any of the photos, videos or other content that has been sent to you. When it detects a deletion, the application will try to retrieve a copy automatically.

All deleted messages and items can then be found at any time in the same application. In it, you will be able to see all the entire conversations, and if you click on the History tab, you will be able to see the list of all the notifications that you have received, being able to filter them to find the ones you have received. In addition, there is a Multimedia tab to view photos, videos, stickers, voice notes and other multimedia elements.
