How to turn off your Samsung Galaxy Note 10 or 10 Plus.

Now that Samsung is shipping the and, you will find that the traditional method of turning off phones doesn’t work. Instead, you must use a new key combination or change your default settings. That is how.
On almost all other Android smartphones or tablets, you can turn off the device by long pressing the power button. This action usually launches the power menu which allows you to turn the phone off, restart it, or more. On new Samsung flagships, this opens the Bixby virtual assistant.
With the Galaxy Note 10 and 10 Plus, Samsung included a new key combination to launch the power menu. Instead of simply pressing and holding the power button (which Samsung calls the “side key”), you have to press and hold both the power and volume down buttons at the same time for several seconds.
You can drop both wallpapers when the power menu appears on the screen. Now all you need to do is tap on “Power off” and your Samsung Galaxy Note 10 or 10 Plus will power off.
As mentioned above, Samsung allows you to change the default behavior of holding down the power button. Here’s how you can change it if you’d rather jump straight to the power menu instead of launching Bixby.
First, swipe down from the top of the screen to bring up the notification shade. Then tap the gear icon in the top right corner to open the Settings menu.
Now, tap on “Advanced Features”. The element must be in the middle of the option list.
Select “Side Key”.
You can now change the default behavior of double pressing the power button, as well as what happens when the button is held down. You will need to select “Power Menu” within the “Press and Hold” section.
Alternatively, you can access the side key menu by swiping down on the notification screen, tapping the power icon and selecting “Side key settings”. You can then choose “Shut down menu” as the long press action.

If you don’t want or can’t use the physical buttons on the Galaxy Note 10 or 10 Plus to turn off the phone, Samsung has introduced a shortcut to the power menu in the notifications screen.
To access it, swipe down from the top of the phone screen to lower the notification shade. From there, tap on the power icon in the top right corner next to the gear button.
The power menu will now load, offering several options to choose from. Tap on “Power off” to turn off your device.
Turn off with Bixby
The last option is to ask Samsung’s virtual assistant, Bixby, to turn off your Samsung Galaxy Note 10 or 10 Plus.
To get started, you need to launch Bixby. If you haven’t changed the default behavior of holding the power button, you can change it to bring up the wizard. From there, say “Turn phone off” and your phone should be off.
You can also access the virtual assistant through Bixby Home by swiping to the rightmost home screen. Here, you can tap on the Bixby icon and then tell it, “Turn off your phone.”
Turn your Note 10 or 10 Plus back on
Thankfully, Samsung didn’t change the way you turn the Galaxy Note 10 or 10 Plus back on. As with almost all other smartphones, all you need to do is hold down the power button for several seconds. You can release it once the Samsung logo appears on the screen.
