When we add a new event to the calendar, beyond the title and time we give it, we can complete various information. Notes, attachments or the location of the event are just a few examples and it is precisely the latter that we will be talking about today. Because? Because it allows us calculate the travel time to reach the destination and be notified when you go.

The concept of travel time is simple: once we have created an event, we can assign a Travel time which is added to its duration. We can decide on several predetermined duration or place of use to calculate it. Let’s get into the details.

How to use Travel time on our iPhone or iPad

It’s very simple. We will first create an event with a travel time where we will choose the duration manually. The steps are as follows:

  1. We open the app Calendar on our iPhone or iPad.
  2. We touch the “+” to add a new event.
  3. We write a name and choose the time of the event.
  4. We touch Travel time.
  5. We activate Travel time.
  6. We choose between 5, 15 or 30 minutes or 1, 1.5 or 2 hours.
  7. We are pressing .
  8. We are pressing Okay.

Given this option, we now create an event where the travel time is calculated based on the location of the event. The steps are very similar.

  1. We open the app Calendar on our iPhone or iPad.
  2. We touch the “+” to add a new event.
  3. We write a name and choose the time of the event.
  4. We touch Location and we choose or search for the location that interests us.
  5. We touch Travel time.
  6. We activate Travel time.
  7. We touch Emplacement initial.
  8. We choose where we will be when we start moving on to our event.
  9. We choose Depending on location in the list of travel times.

By doing this, in addition to the fact that it is the application that takes care of the calculation of the time needed to get to the event, we will have several advantages. The first is that, automatically, the application will schedule a notice when we need to leave. The second, and most important, is that the departure time is dynamically calculated based on traffic, time, route conditions, etc.

In addition, and depending on the place of destination and departure, we can choose to calculate the Travel time by car, on foot or by public transport. If we are to make sure that the exit time is active, you can check it in the section Note or Second opinion.

It should be noted that although the ones we just saw are the full steps, by default our iPhone or iPad sets the warning to exit time as soon as we assign a seat to the event. This means that although the journey time is not correctly recorded in the calendar, we can simplify the event creation process> choose name, location and time> tap Okay.

Is it a good idea to buy an Apple Watch Series 3?

On our Mac we can also plan events with Travel time activated. The steps, similar to the ones we take on our iPhone or iPad, are as follows:

  1. We open the app Calendar on our iPhone or iPad.
  2. We touch the “+” to add a new event.
  3. We write a name.
  4. We write down or research the location of the event (optional if we want to use a predetermined travel time).
  5. We tap on the date and time section to display your options.
  6. We introduce the time of the event.
  7. We touch Travel time.
  8. We select one from the default options or those that our Mac calculates based on our location.
  9. We tap outside the pop-up window to finish creating the event.

Just like on iPhone or iPad, we can simplify the process if we just want some advice upon departure without the journey time being properly reflected in the schedule. In this case, the steps are as follows:

  1. We open the app Calendar on our iPhone or iPad.
  2. We touch the “+” to add a new event.
  3. We write a name.
  4. We are writing or researching the location of the event.
  5. We touch in the date and time section to display its options and enter the time of the event.
  6. We tap outside the pop-up window to finish creating the event.

It’s that simple. With these steps we can add the travel time to the event in the calendar. Ideal to keep in mind that you have to leave a margin between the different events on the most intense days. Also, if we only need a reminder when checking out, with the simplified steps, we can get it easily and quickly.
