How to watch TV for free on the iPhone: 5 applications and hundreds of channels.

How to watch TV for free on the iPhone: 5 applications and hundreds of channels

Television has become something that is not fashionable today. Personally, like many compatriots, I prefer to gain knowledge, find entertainment and watch movies and TV series over the Internet.

But it’s too early to rule out classic TV, because there are situations in which YouTube loses out to traditional TV:

  • breaking news
  • Online broadcast of a sports match
  • interesting documentary
  • new episode of “El Capercaillie”

And if you (like me) also like the 2×2 channel for the Simpsons and other cartoon hits, here is a selection of apps that let you watch tons of TV channels right from your iPhone screen. whenever:

1. Peers.TV. – TV in the cloud

The free Peers.TV app turns your iPhone or iPad into a true portable TV.

There are dozens of popular channels to choose from, including rarer ones like Music Box and Sony Sci-Fi News.

The home screen has sections that will save you a lot of time searching for great shows and movies: Popular and Top Picks. You can save any show on your apple device and watch it without internet connection in the special section “My Shows”.

Advantages of Peers.TV:

  • Free package of more than 100 channels
  • save programs to your device
  • Themed Selections of Movies and Shows
  • pause and rewind a video stream
  • IPTV setup option

The bad points of Peers.TV:

  • there are advertising banners (can be disabled by paying)
  • the app is not optimized for the iPhone X

Verdict: I liked this application more than other similar ones. There are no settings: just download and watch. Apple TV owners can also install Peers.TV to turn their TV into… a TV 🙂

2. SPB TV Russia – more channels, more movies

I have used this app on my iPhone 3GS, and SPB TV Russia has been transformed ever since.

Basically, it is not just online television, but a true aggregator of movies and television series, with the possibility of watching television channels in real time.

SPB TV Russia has the option of subscribing to paid packages with series and movies. By the way, it is the most beautiful app with a “tile” interface that is easy on the eyes.

Advantages of SPB TV Russia:

  • beautiful interface
  • minimal advertising
  • free western channels
  • “live” channel forecasts

The drawbacks of SPB TV Russia:

  • you have to create an account in the app to watch most channels

Verdict: If you want to quickly and easily access American, French and Italian news TV channels directly from your iPhone or iPad screen, SPB TV Russia is the app for you.

When installing SPB TV Russia, it is important to remember that the application only works in Russia. It takes seconds to set up your free account for full access to all features, and you can skip paying subscriptions. Test it.

3. TV+ – concise app, lots of sports channels

The easiest to use online TV in the App Store. No setup or tweaking – there’s a channel list with real-time dynamic preview, tap on any channel and watch.

For thrifty users, it is possible to reduce the amount of traffic by lowering the image quality. There are three options available, from worst to best, the default setting is medium.

TV+ is the only application in which pay-per-view packages are exclusively represented by sports channels. 2 options are available: “Sports” and “Sports HD” for 49 and 69 rubles per month. It’s not a big price to pay for the ability to enjoy live broadcasts whenever you want.

Advantages of TV+:

  • minimalist interface
  • Whithout ads
  • You can add your own IPTV playlists
  • Select image quality to save traffic

The drawbacks of TV+:

  • Buffering of the video stream takes some time

Verdict: The application impresses with its simplicity: easy to navigate, up-to-date TV programming and a good list of TV channels available for free.

Unlike the other apps in this selection, TV+ doesn’t have the ability to save or rewind shows, just honest live TV broadcasts. I liked it.

4. Russian TV – many unknown TV channels

This app left a double impression: on the one hand, you can only watch 51 channels for free, and every 15 minutes a pop-up annoyingly suggests you to subscribe and expand the number of channels to more than 120. On the other hand, the application has Spas, Belarusian TV, Nickelodeon and Chanson TV.

Do you think I’m kidding? Not at all: the previous channels I have only seen in this application. Someone’s watching them too, right?

The subscription conditions are quite flexible, there is a lot to choose from. Most importantly, it’s the least demanding mobile Internet app for watching TV: you only need 512 kb/s for a comfortable, lag-free picture.

Pros of Russian TV:

  • good image on any mobile internet
  • Ability to add TV channels to the favorites list
  • TV show with program descriptions
  • you can see the Spas channel

minus Russian TV:

  • intrusive subscription advertising
  • Annoying AliExpress ads

Verdict: The application is very useful for residents of regions with slow mobile Internet and a great desire to watch the most popular TV channels on their iPhone or iPad. For everyone else, I recommend looking at the other apps in this selection.

5. Yunisov TV – A paid app, almost cable

Why spend 379 rubles for an application to watch TV channels when the App Store is full of free equivalents? I was curious too, so I bought Yunisov TV.

For a one-time fee, the app allows you to watch a ton of channels, a good half of which are broadcast in HD quality. Among those available without a subscription are National Geographic, Amazing Earth, Red Bull TV, Extreme Sports and many others that you can normally only watch with a cable TV connection.

Just watch the movie show on TV. And there are like 4 of those TV channels in the app, with great movie selections. I don’t know how the developer manages to issue such goodness legally, but I don’t regret spending 379 rubles.

Advantages of Yunisov TV:

  • no spa channel
  • Many unique channels, including foreign ones
  • the ability to add TV channels to your favorites list
  • several “movie theaters” with non-stop great movies

The negative points of Yunisov TV:

Verdict: After comparing all the above applications, only Yunisov TV remains on my iPhone. It has the most interesting TV channels, easy navigation and no ads while using it.

Yes, the price of 379 rubles seems high, but it is money that you only have to pay once to see almost the cable directly from the screen of your iPhone. Anyway, it is cheaper than the monthly subscriptions.

And, by the way, there is also a subscription here, albeit only one – for 229 rubles a month you can add about 50 more channels, including Animal Planet, the Dozhd TV channel and many others. I’m fine without them, but what if you can’t?

Comfort: 5, Number of Channels: 5, Cost: 3, Verdict: 4

Buy on the App Store (379 RUB)

TV is generally there on the iPhone, and if you’re a frequent traveler, any of the apps in this selection will help you pass the time on the road and not miss a single episode of The Grouse.

Or what is the best of the national series at the moment?
