Huawei P20 Lite

Huawei has announced the first device in the new P20 series. The Huawei P20 Lite is the cheapest model in the series and focuses on the mid-range market. In addition, the Huawei P20 and P20 Pro will soon be presented. Despite its attractive price tag, Huawei has opted for a luxurious-looking housing, which will be offered in black and blue.

The Huawei P20 Lite’s LCD screen is 5.84-inch in size and has a resolution of 2280 x 1080 pixels. A small notch is visible in the top edge of the screen, in which the speaker, light sensor and a 16-megapixel front camera are incorporated. Due to this notch, the front consists almost entirely of a screen, while the smartphone is not much larger than its predecessor, the 5.2-inch P10 Lite.

At the rear, a camera module with two sensors was chosen. As usual, Huawei opts for a combination between a color sensor (16-megapixel) and a 2-megapixel sensor that only takes photos in black and white. After taking a photo, the images from both sensors are combined, which should result in photos with higher contrast and better image quality.

Kirin 659-soc with 4GB RAM

The Huawei P20 Lite is powered by the Kirin 659-soc with eight Cortex A53 cores, half of which are clocked at 2.36GHz and the remaining four at 1.7GHz. Remarkably, there is no support for the faster Wi-Fi 802.11ac standard. There is 4GB of RAM available with 64GB storage, which can be expanded with a microSD card to a maximum of 256GB. The capacity of the battery is 3000mAh and can be charged via the USB-C connection. In addition, there is support for fast charging and 3.5 mm headphones can be connected. The smartphone runs on Android 8.0 Oreo with EMUI 8.0 out of the box, including the feature to unlock the phone with your face.
