Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 & 2.5 Remix.

Kingdom Hearts is a game series that started on the Playstation 2 and first saw the light in Europe in 2002. In addition to the main parts, the series has also received several spin-off parts on Nintendo handhelds and also on Sony’s Playstation Portable. Starting this week, these old parts that appeared for the older consoles and handhelds have been released in a collection for the Xbox One. The collection was previously published on the Playstation 4, but has now also made its transition to the Xbox. Is this game just as good on the Xbox as it is on the Playstation 4? You read it in this review.

Kingdom Hearts 1.5 Remix

As I said before the games have appeared on multiple platforms. Kingdom Hearts 1.5 Remix has 3 games in it and they are as follows:

Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 & 2.5 Remix
  • Kingdom Hearts HD Final Mix
  • Kingdom Hearts HD Chain of Memories
  • Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days

Kingdom Hearts HD Final Remix is the official first part only with HD Graphics and all bonus content. So this is the full package of the official first part.

Kingdom Hearts HD Chain of Memories is a remake of the GameBoy Advance game: Kingdom Hearts Chain of Memories. In this game you play with the same main characters from the first part, only with a different twist on the story. Instead of top-down as it was on the GameBoy Advance, the gameplay is now in the same style as the first Kingdom Hearts game, so completely renewed and now in HD.

Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 & 2.5 Remix

Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days is a bit of a separate member of the collection. In this title you only see videos of the Nintendo DS game. Where you still had a game form in the Nintendo DS game, Square Enix has chosen to only show videos that have been incorporated into the game with this title so that you can get the complete story of the game.

Now we are going to talk about the Kingdom Hearts 2.5 Remix which contains the following three games:

  • Kingdom Hearts 2 HD Final Mix
  • Kingdom Hearts Birth By Sleep Final Mix
  • Kingdom Hearts Re:Coded

Kingdom Hearts 2 HD Final Mix is the major successor that was officially released on the Playstation 2 in 2005, but has also received an HD Remake with all bonus content in this Final Mix version.

Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 & 2.5 Remix

Kingdom Hearts Birth By Sleep is the part that officially appeared on the Playstation Portable ( PSP ). Here you get to know Terra, Aqua and Ventus for the first time. You can play this part three times with all three characters in different story forms.

Kingdom Hearts Re:Coded is the same idea as in the 1.5 HD Remix with Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days. There are only cutscenes and no gameplay so you get the story.

Gameplay

Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 & 2.5 Remix

The gameplay of Kingdom Hearts is very easy to master. You have to walk through worlds and defeat as many Heartless as possible to become stronger in a leveling system. Leveling up can bring up three different possibilities. You can get extra HP, Magic or Defense points. You can also earn new spells. Try to level up as much as possible to face the bosses that await you at the end or in the middle of the worlds.

Story

In the first part you play as the main character of the Kingdom Hearts series: Sora. He often plays with his friends Tidus, Wakka, Selphie ( Final Fantasy 10 and 8 characters ) and with his very best friends Riku and Kairi on an island. When Riku and Kairi disappear, Sora goes looking for them and ends up in different worlds. These worlds are all known to most people because they are all Disney worlds that you have to go through. The great thing about the series is that these Disney worlds feel very familiar due to the recognizable characters from the cartoons, but have been given their own twist that suits them.

Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 & 2.5 Remix

Conclusion

The Kingdom Hearts series is already 18 years old but continues to have its own face and is beautifully designed. Graphically, the games look a lot better and it is nice that the collection is now available for the Xbox One in addition to the Playstation 4. It is a welcome addition after the game Kingdom Hearts 3 came out for the Xbox One last year. If there are people who have played the game but never the parts before this is super useful.
