The Lenovo laptop assembler has just introduced its new Lenovo ThinkPad P52 computer. This new model will be the first laptop with 128 GB of RAM inside and a 6-core, 12-thread Xeon processor, along with an NVIDIA Quadro P3200 graphics card, all to run the most demanding applications.

Many users may wonder why they would want a laptop with 128 GB of RAM. And it is true that, for simple use, 128 GB of RAM on a laptop would be outrageous. However, for the use that is usually given to portable workstations, to which category the Lenovo ThinkPad P52 belongs, having 128 GB of storage for RAM is not unreasonable. We cannot forget that these types of laptops are usually used in certain tasks such as DTR (Desktop Replacement) computers, such as graphic editing or 3D modeling. In other words, professional tasks that do require a large amount of RAM available to the programs.

For this type of task, Lenovo wanted to equip its ThinkPad P52 with the possibility of mounting 8th Generation Intel Core or Xeon processors. In this case, although we do not know the specific models of both lines of processors, we do know that they will be processors with six cores and 12 threads, something very consistent with the specifications of this laptop.

This first laptop with 128 GB of RAM heralds the arrival of high-capacity RAM modules

The Lenovo ThinkPad P52 ushers in the arrival of high-density SO-DIMM RAM modules in the laptop segment. Until now, the SO-DIMM modules that had the most capacity and could be purchased were the 32 GB modules, for a total of 64 GB of RAM available with the equipment. This means that, from now on, laptops could have almost as much RAM as their counterparts in the desktop sector.
