Mortal Kombat 1 did pretty well in the PS5 and Xbox Series X tests, and fans could also look forward to the latest edition of the classic fighting game on the Switch. They could, if the game wasn’t a total failure in terms of optics and performance.

Mortal Kombat 1 has become a really good fighting game. The version on the PS5 is currently also available on Metacritic Rating of 86the Xbox Series X version is even available at one Cut from 88. (Source: Metacritic). While the game is a recommendation on Sony and Microsoft consoles, the Switch port is more of a warning.

Of course, the Switch is the significantly weaker console in a direct hardware comparison and cannot keep up with the PS5 or Xbox Series X graphically. But even in this context the switch port doesn’t look goodas some fans show on Twitter:

Derailed facial expressions, poor lighting and a great lack of detail make Mortal Kombat 1 not look particularly good on the Switch. But there is a visual catastrophe that Switch players might be able to ignore if they love the series not the only problem.

Performance on the Switch leaves a lot to be desired

The Switch port of Mortal Kombat 1 is also quite a disaster in terms of performance. Nintendo Life gives one in the test 4 out of 10 and has a lot of criticism. (Source: Nintendo Life). There are drops in frame rate, problems with input, glitches in the cutscenes, long loading times and sluggish menus. On top of that, there are game-breaking bugs in Invasion mode, which is not fully available.

If you have the choice, you should first play Mortal Kombat 1 on another platform and hope that the optics and performance improve with a few updates.
