- BioWare announced the Legendary Edition of Mass Effect
- It contains remasters of the original Mass Effect trilogy
- The release is planned for spring 2021 on PC and consoles
As expected, BioWare announced the Legendary Edition of Mass Effect and thus the remaster of the trilogy on N7 Day today.
The remaster trilogy will be released in spring 2021 for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One and will include Mass Effect, Mass Effect 2 and Mass Effect 3 along with all published DLCs and promo items.
As I said, it is a remaster of the trilogy, they are not complete remakes. The studio wants to improve them so that players can experience them in their “best possible form”.
In concrete terms, this means that you can adjust to higher resolutions and frame rates, as well as textures, shaders, character models and effects are improved. There are also other optimizations for Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5, but no information is available yet.
Part one was first released in 2007 for Xbox 360 and PC, a PS3 version wasn’t released until 2012. In the meantime, Mass Effect 2 came onto the market in 2010, this time for the three platforms mentioned, before part three rounded off the trilogy in 2012.
With Mass Effect: Andromeda, a new game in the series was last released in 2017, but it did not get off as well with critics and gamers as the trilogy.
“For many months, our team at BioWare has been working hard to update the textures, shaders, models, effects, and technical features of three huge games,” writes BioWare’s Casey Hudson. “Our goal was not to rework or reinvent the original games, but rather to modernize the experience so fans and new players could experience the original work in its best possible form. It was amazing to see Commander Shepard’s adventures in Super sharp resolution, faster frame rates, and gorgeous visual enhancements. “
“As game developers, we always hope that our games will surpass their original platforms. Having the opportunity to recreate the trilogy means that the fruits of a decade of labor can live on and be experienced better and more clearly than ever before.”
Additionally, it has been confirmed that a brand new Mass Effect is in the works.
