Mecool BB2 Pro, the first Android TV on the market with DDR4 memory

The Chinese manufacturer Mecool has gone ahead of the big brands and has been the first manufacturer to launch an Android TV equipped with DDR4 RAM on the market. And it is not just any piece of equipment, because as you will see a little later, the Mecool BB2 Pro is equipped with fairly decent hardware in addition to this latest-generation RAM memory that allows content playback at 4K resolution in a comfortable way. The good news is that it is already available and can be purchased for just over 63 euros.

We start with the hardware. The Mecool BB2 Pro incorporates a well-known SoC, the 64-bit eight-core Amlogic S912, which has long since demonstrated its exceeding power for content management at 4K resolution. It is accompanied by an ARM Mali T820-MP3 GPU and no less than 3 GB of DDR4 RAM. It also has 16 GB of high-speed eMMC storage, expandable by up to an additional 32 GB using an SD memory card.

In addition to the usual Bluetooth 4.0, it has a dual-band 802.11 b/g/n/ac WiFi chip (2.4 and 5 Ghz) with a high-gain external antenna for the best wireless data transmission, as well as two compatible USB 2.0 ports. both with peripherals and with external hard drives / flash drives, RJ-45 Gigabit connector for wired network connection, HDMI 2.0 as video output, and even an S/PDIF for digital audio output.

Logically, the Mecool BB2 Pro is designed to be a multimedia player for the living room, and proof of this is that within its operating system based on Android 6.0 it incorporates KODI 17.0 pre-installed and with multiple addons, such as YouTube, Netflix, Facebook, Skype and many more. Thanks to this, we will only have to connect the device to the electrical network and to our television to be able to start using it, since it also includes a remote control from which we can control all the parameters of the device.

It should also be noted that the Mecool BB2 Pro has passive cooling so it is completely silent, and leaving aside the WiFi antenna (which can be rotated so that it does not bother) since it has dimensions of only 10.9 x 10.9 x 2.1 centimeters and It has a light gray color and it will not clash in any living room.
