More details below, via Capcom:
The story of Mega Man Battle Network is set in the near future in the interconnected world of Net Society, which relies on computer programs known as Network Navigators (or NetNavi) to manage everything from its toaster ovens to the city’s power grids. While the web age has brought all sorts of conveniences, it has also brought a wave of cybercrime that gnaws at all levels of society. In these games, players take on the role of Lan Hikari using his Personal Terminal (or PET) and his NetNavi, MegaMan.EXE, to take on the culprits behind these cyber crimes. Players control MegaMan.EXE on his quest to explore the net, engage in combat across gridded fields, and use Battle Chips to gain devastating abilities capable of wiping out even the most sinister viruses.
Mega Man Battle Network Legacy Collection features optional high-resolution filters that allow players to enjoy smoother, less pixelated visuals. Players can toggle filters on/off at any time if they prefer, or enjoy the original visuals of Battle Network games. Network Navigators will also be able to access over 1,000 official concept art, character sketches and illustrations in the Collection Gallery. The “Mystery Data” section will contain exclusive illustrations from past events and images of licensed merchandise from this era of Mega Man titles. If you want to enjoy some tunes while browsing the arts, the music player includes over 180 tracks from all 10 titles.
