Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak
In addition to details on Monster Hunter Rise on PC, other news has been announced for all Monster Hunter Rise players, including future collaborations and the expansion Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak, which will be available simultaneously for Switch and PC in Q3 2022.
Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak includes a new story and base of operations, as well as new locations, monsters, gameplay features, Master Rank quests, and more. Hunters must own the base game and complete the 7★ Gathering Area Quest: called “Serpent Goddess of Thunder” in Monster Hunter Rise before starting Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak. All base game progress will carry over to the expansion when played on the same platform.
The identity of the new dark monster featured in the Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak announcement trailer has been confirmed to be Malzeno, a powerful ancient dragon that will be the expansion’s main monster. Also joining the expansion’s roster of monsters is Ceanataur Shogun, a crab-like monster that first appeared in Monster Hunter 2.

This special collaboration mission will be available to Switch players starting October 28th.
Finally, and also announced today, Monster Hunter is teaming up with SEGA to celebrate Sonic’s 30th anniversary in Monster Hunter Rise. More details on this exciting new collaboration will be shared soon ahead of the Event Quest launch in November.
