Bones can be found in the Bone Stacks, something you can easily find due to the glow that emanates from each of the game’s hunting grounds. You just have to approach, press the button and collect. You get three bones per pile.

Unlike Ores, there is no difference between the Bone Stacks in each area, although each can give you a different type of bone.

That said, Bone Stacks will only get you halfway there, as the most profitable bones for upgrades and High Rankings from the later parts of the game come from hunts you complete.

How to get Monster Bone S, Monster Bone M, Monster Bone L and Monster Bone Plus / Monster Bone +

Despite being part of the same “family”, they all come from different sources:

  • Monster Bone S Location – Bone Stacks (Any Area, High and Low)
  • Monster Bone M location – Low Rank Missions rewards, taken from bodies
  • Monster Bone L location – reward for completing hunts (Anjanath, Rathian, Tzitzu-Ya-Ku, Radobaan)
  • Monster Bone + / Monster Bone Plus Location – Reward for completing missions (Legiana, Odogaron, Rathalos, Diablos)

How to get Ancient Bone, Boulder Bone, Coral Bone and Warped Bone

These four bones are specific to certain areas:

  • Ancient Bone Location – Bone Pile in Ancient Forest
  • Boulder Bone Location – Wildspire Wastes Bone Pile
