Today, Codemasters and Electronic Arts Inc. revealed the gameplay features players can expect when F1 22 releases worldwide on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on July 1. The race weekend has been completely redesigned and brings extra excitement from the moment the drivers take to the track for the 2022 FIA Formula One World Championship. Players take control of this season’s revolutionary cars with improved physics and revamped aerodynamics. In addition, they can experience F1 Sprint and experience immersive moments during the race day in the form of formation laps, safety car moments and pit stops. The Pirelli Hot Lap featuring eight supercars adds a new dimension to this season’s circuits, including updates in Spain, Australia and Abu Dhabi, and the debut of the FORMULA 1 CRYPTO.COM MIAMI GRAND PRIX.

”F1 22 enables players to make their Formula 1 dreams a reality, both on and off the track. This is made possible in part by the addition of the latest cars, rules and extra control during the different moments of a race day,” said Lee Mather, F1 Senior Creative Director at Codemasters. “F1 22 also offers players more opportunities for social interaction, including off the track. The personalized space within F1 Life allows them to showcase their collection of coveted cars and accessories to friends and foes.”

To help new players get started, Codemasters has added Adaptive AI to F1® 22. This feature ensures that the racing experience is adapted to the level of the player, so that they can always race competitively regardless of their experience in the game. With the addition of accessible handling, players have the option to remove various complex elements from the racing and ramp up the difficulty towards the end of the race. The improved Practice Programs encourage players to get to know tracks better with the help of improved visuals on the track. In this way they are helped to set even better lap times in order to eventually get a place on the podium.

Players who purchase the F1 22 Champions Edition will receive new My Team Icons: Jacques Villeneuve, Mark Webber and Nico Hülkenberg. In addition, this edition includes two controllable safety cars for use in Time Trial: the Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series and the Aston Martin Vantage. An improved user interface has made it easier to navigate and visuals that mimic an authentic broadcast have been updated, including podium sequences and driver video walls.

F1 Life is the new social hub that gives players the opportunity to show off their collection of supercars, accessories and trophies. Personalizing an in-game character goes further than ever before with official branded clothing and accessories that can be unlocked through in-game challenges, the Podium Pass, the brand shop, and the in-game store. When players start the game they are dropped into their personal hub. This not only acts as a lobby for playing Multiplayer, but from here they can also view avatars and collections of their friends.
