We already have a new trailer for ‘Sonic the Hedgehog’, which is scheduled to premiere in February 2020. The film has been directed by newcomer Jeff Fowler and counts, as an indisputable casting success, a perfect Jim Carrey to give life to the villain of the franchise, the inexhaustible Dr. Robotnik, full of pottery with which to try to catch the fastest hedgehog in the world, which here has an alien origin.

This time the look is closer to the original (which, on the other hand, does not have an “official” look: from the chubby Sonic of Megadrive to the highly stylized of the Dreamcast times, something that was exploited in the great ‘Sonic Generations’) , but it still retains some of the awkward realism of the first trailer. What this new video does have is much more action, presence of Jim Carrey and a glimpse into the original world of Sonic, which pays homage to classic video games, with its loops and its semi-alien vegetation.

A controversial hedgehog

This new trailer for ‘Sonic the Hedgehog’ comes after the radical rejection of Sonic’s appearance in the first trailers that were presented for the film, in April of this year. The physique of this renewed Sonic, spectacularly realistic and somewhat grimy, did not like the fans, who They claimed an appearance for the hedgehog more in line with its origins, close to cartoons. Paramount took note and delayed the release date to February 14, 2020 in order to adjust the appearance of this Sonic. This was the first trailer:

As a curiosity, a fan of the blue hedgehog already made an approach to how the design should be to remain faithful to the original video games and cartoons. The result is simply spectacular, but of course, it is a trailer: the task of modifying a character according to the already shot performances of a lot of actors interacting with a previous creature is not an easy task. We will see what the thing is. Here’s that first modified trailer:
