SEGA’s Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio is already working on a new Yakuza.
Despite arriving in the west only in November, Yakuza: Like a Dragon was released in January 2020 for PS4 in Japan, and it is normal that after almost a year the team is already involved with a new game.
The revelation was made by Toshihiro Nagoshi, director of the studio, during a special broadcast dedicated to the 15 years of the series, in which he mentioned that they are already working on a new project in the Yakuza series.
“I will repeat what everyone has already said. I can only thank the fans for supporting us so long. It is thanks to the fans that we can continue to challenge ourselves and continue. I think we work in each game as if it were our last and it is one of the reasons why we can always do our best. “
“I can confirm that we are working on the next game.”
For now, nothing concrete has been shared, but over the past few months, the main people responsible for the series have suggested that Yakuza: Like a Dragon 2 is a strong possibility.
Nagoshi and Masayoshi Yokoyama recently suggested that they want to see Ichiban Kasuga again as the protagonist and that the turn-based system is something they are happy with.
