Philips OLED+908 – flagship model offers the ultimate viewing experience
The OLED+908 features the latest META OLED panel with the added power of the 7th generation P5 AI processor, an integrated Bowers & Wilkins sound system and a three-sided next level Ambilight system. All combined, the premium TV offers a uniquely immersive viewing experience of exceptionally high quality.
The new META OLED panel uses a Micro Lens Array layer and a META brightness boosting algorithm to provide a potential peak light output of 2100 Nits, a 70% increase, while also providing a wider viewing angle and improves energy efficiency.
The 7th generation P5 AI processor offers an enhanced V2 version of Ambient Intelligence that enables the real-time adjustment of the display’s brightness, gamma and color response to ensure optimal performance matched to the ambient light.
The V2 version of Ambient Intelligence uses a new XYZ light sensor that can now measure the color temperature of the light in the viewing room so that the white point of the display exactly matches the real-time hue of the ambient lighting in the room. In addition, an enhanced Super Resolution feature provides exceptional edge sharpness while creating rich detail in most of the enhanced screen object.
The sound quality matches the exceptional picture quality thanks to the 3.1, 80W Bowers & Wilkins sound system, with six front-mounted drivers aimed directly at the listener in a special LCR (left, center, right) arrangement. This provides an extra wide sound with crystal clear dialogue. Deep, accurate bass is delivered by a large rear-mounted subwoofer supported by four passive radiators.
As with all 2023 OLED Ambilight TVs, the OLED+908 will feature the new Google TV OS, a refined and more advanced version of the existing Android TV experience with a more intuitive interface and home screen, now with a greater emphasis on personalized tailored content and recommendations.
Google TV has been added to the Ambilight 2023 range, with a new, more intuitive user interface, providing easier access to key settings and functions while offering less on-screen menu overlay.
The minimalistic design of the OLED+908 features a super-thin, dark metal bezel to match the dark Kvadrat Audiomix fabric speaker grille and a new open frame black gloss metal stand. The OLED+908 comes with a new remote control with a rechargeable battery (via USB-C), a new ‘123’ hot key to turn the backlight on and off and a motion sensor to detect when the remote control is lifted and to activate backlight.
The Philips OLED+908 will be available in the fall in sizes 55″, 65″ and 77″.
OLED808 – Enhancement of the premium OLED range
The OLED808 series will be expanded to a 42-inch screen size, in addition to the existing 48-inch, 55-inch, 65-inch and 77-inch sizes.
The OLED808 series offers the power of the new 7th generation P5 AI – with Ambient Intelligence V2 and the new Super Resolution features – and includes powerful 1000 Nits OLED_EX panels, for screen sizes of 55-inch and larger, to provide a superior to ensure image quality.
The OLED808 – and all 2023 OLED series – offers outstanding, advanced gaming performance by adding Dolby Vision 4K 120Hz compatibility to HDMI 2.1 e-Arc, VRR support for 4K from 40Hz to 120Hz at a full bandwidth of 48Gbps (444 , 12 bit), FreeSync Premium and G-SYNC compatibility plus Auto Game and Auto Low Latency modes.
Excellent sound quality remains a highlight of the range thanks to an integrated 70W 2.1 sound system – 50W for the 42” – with a more precise digital crossover. This precisely controls distribution to the two-way left and right speakers, the dedicated triple ring and rear-firing bass driver – supported by four passive radiators.
The OLED808 has a wafer-thin bezel-less design and a dark metal frame on the outside, enabling a seamless connection to the more advanced and powerful Next Gen three-sided Ambilight system, with more color detail and accuracy, creating the most immersive viewing experience.
Most versions of the OLED808 feature a new central, elegant EVO swivel stand in satin chrome, the only exception being the 77-inch model which uses new metal flat satin chrome feet.
The Google TV OS and new user interface provide a simpler and more personalized user experience.
The Philips OLED808 will be available from May 2023 in 42”, 48”, 55”, 65” and 77”.
MiniLED performance at your fingertips with ‘The Xtra’ series
The first model in the new ‘The Xtra’ series is the Philips 9308 MiniLED TV, which will be launched in the third quarter in 55″ and 65″ sizes and offers great performance and excellent value for money.
Positioned below the Ambilight OLED models, the 9308 still offers exceptional picture and sound performance thanks to its 7th generation P5 processor and the addition of a top quality 120 Hz, 98% DCI WCG panel – with an impressive 1000 nits light output and a 64W 2.1 Bowers & Wilkins front sound system.
A uniquely immersive viewing experience is delivered through the three-sided version of the Ambilight system, while viewers can also enjoy an enhanced and comprehensive Smart TV experience developed by TP Vision.
The television’s premium European design extends to an extra-slim metal frame in a dark anthracite finish, with a thin strip across the bottom of the screen in a brushed black gloss to match the finish of the open frame stand. The design is finished with the dark Kvadrat audio mix fabric for the speaker grill.
A second new ‘The Xtra’ MiniLED set – the Philips 9008 series – is also launching in 55-inch, 65-inch and 75-inch with the 7th generation P5, a 120Hz 1000 Nits panel, a powerful 40W 2.0- sound system and anthracite gray legs.
The Philips 9308 and Philips 9008 will be available from autumn 2023.
The One continues to deliver top performance
The hugely successful ‘The One’ Performance series remains an extremely important part of the Philips Ambilight TV range and will be upgraded in Q2 2023 with two new series – the Philips 8808 and 8508. Both TVs are equipped with the 7th generation P5 processor.
‘The One’ models continue to offer the similar level of performance, European design and quality – plus key features – of a more premium model, but at an ultra-competitive mid-range price.
The 8808 series will be available in 43”, 50”, 55”, 65”, 75” and 85” screen sizes, and the 8508 will be available in 43”, 50”, 55′ and 65”.
High quality WCG panels are available in both ranges with 120Hz for the 8808s and 60Hz for the 8508. The 8508 60Hz panel also features DLG and HRS technology to deliver 4K 120Hz content with the smooth motion and near sharpness of a native 120Hz panel.
Both series include three-sided versions of the immersive Ambilight system and the new Google TV OS, plus the more intuitive user interface. The best of European design is clearly evident in both series. The 43” – 65” 8808 has a minimal charcoal gray bezel with a brushed effect at the bottom edge of the screen. The rotatable EVO stand is also finished in anthracite grey. The 75” & 85” versions of the 8808 are fitted with metal anthracite gray cut round legs.
The 8508 series has a narrow anthracite gray bezel with a brushed effect at the bottom of the screen and a height-adjustable anthracite metal stand using gray offset sticks.
The Philips 8808 and 8508 will be available from May.
