After a 3 minute trailer to start the Nintendo Treehouse, Eiji Aonuma was there to present a first demo of Zelda: Breath of the Wild for 30 minutes.
Enough to discover more of what this new game has in store for us and learn many things thanks to Aonuma, who explains having created this episode with the idea in mind to break the conventions of the franchise. Elements of technology have been integrated, such as the Seikah slate at the start of the game which allows you to activate various elements.
Link will gain movement and will be able, for example, to climb walls and cliffs. Our hero has an endurance gauge, green, which allows him to climb and sprint. Exploration will be very present in the game and will allow you to get your hands on objects, but also gameplay elements such as pushing a rock to make it fall on enemies.
You can also discover the map in this demo. The circle seen in the middle represents the board accessible in the demo at E3 2016.
Another new feature for this new episode, weapons will break as you use them, which will push you to take those of your defeated enemies. This time, you won’t have to cut grass to find hearts and increase your life bar but rather use foods like mushrooms and apples that you find.
