New York football’s new darling, Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers seems to have boundless admiration for tennis player Novak Djokovic and it’s not just because of his performance on the court.
The one who will play his first match of the 2023 season next Monday took advantage of some free time to go to the Arthur-Ashe stadium, where the Serb beat Borna Gojo on Sunday in the round of 16 of the United States Open . He also wanted to express his joy at having witnessed the prowess of the second racket in the world having triumphed in three sets. He therefore posted a story on his Instagram account stating that he was able to cross off his list of a task to accomplish in his life, that of watching the “Djoker” live on the main stage of the tournament.

Rodgers, however, took care to send a much more incisive message in order to reiterate his opinion about the vaccination against COVID-19. Indeed, he modified a specific element of the image showing Djokovic: higher in the photo, an inscription of the company Moderna was clearly visible, except that the pivot of the Jets crossed it out with a red line to indicate on it #novaxdjokovic, all with the image of a goat (to mean GOAT or the “greatest of all time”).
The whole recalls the position of the two men with regard to the sanitary measures imposed in the world during the pandemic. Djokovic has missed several competitions due to his vaccination status, including that of Flushing Meadows. For his part, Rodgers admitted in 2022 to having lied to the media who questioned him about his vaccination. Declared positive for the coronavirus in November 2021, he justified his case by claiming to be allergic to an ingredient included in the Moderna and Pfizer vaccines. The NFL was unconvinced and did not grant him vaccinated player status.
