Atari celebrates its 50th anniversary with lots of surprises until June 2022

Very far from the little arms that are celebrating their birthdays at the moment, like the Xbox with its 20th anniversary or Pokemon with its 25, Atari will celebrate its 50th anniversary in 2022. Five decades of video games for one of the pioneers of the sector, founded by Nolan Bushnell in June 1972.

On this occasion, the firm unveils for the moment a special logo with the iconic Fuji in the center of the 0. This logotype called “GoldSchool Sunnyvale” pays tribute to the very first internal studio founded in Sunnyvale, California. It will be used for all future communication on the Atari side, with a high point at June 27 next for the birthday all stack.

In the coming months, we can expect various announcements including new cross-platform games, remakes of Atari 2600 classics (in particular) and numerous collaborationsfollowing previous announcements from the company that it felt it was time to return to the limelight in video games, after relaunching the Atari VCS last summer.

A special collection 50 years of the Atari VCS and exclusive t-shirts are also launched. Finally, a 50th Anniversary Games Collection is coming in 2022with remasters of the classics of the brand that became French in 2001 after the takeover by Infogrames.
