The cardiac arrest suffered during training in late July by LeBron James’ eldest son, Bronny, is likely due to congenital heart disease, the family said in a statement Friday.
Bronny James, 18, collapsed while training with his team at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles.
He was rushed to hospital and then remained in treatment for a few days. LeBron was then reassuring about the state of health of his son.
After examination, the “probable cause” of Bronny’s cardiac arrest has been identified, according to the family. “This is a congenital heart defect that can and will be treated. »
“We are confident in Bronny’s full recovery and return to basketball in the very near future. We will continue to update the media and reiterate the family’s request for confidentiality,” James’ statement concluded.
Bronny is one of the biggest prospects in his age group and many are hoping to see him play with or against his dad in the NBA one day. He is eligible for the 2024 draft.
LeBron James, who will then be 39, has repeatedly expressed the wish to extend his career to find his son in the league.
