Although we don’t know what stories of Star Wars will be told on the big screen in the future, Disney CEO Bob Iger hinted at what the franchise’s future could potentially include. With the first season of The Mandalorian ending on the Disney+ streaming service, it’s entirely possible that one of the platform’s next Star Wars offerings will be a movie.
Iger said:
“I don’t just see it as television, I see it as an extension of Star Wars storytelling. What Disney+ has given us the ability to do is do exactly that, is bring Star Wars to people in new ways, and bring new Star Wars to people. They are not the same places or the same characters. Just watch The Mandalorian. Sure, there’s a lot of shared stuff, but there’s also a lot of new stuff, and I love that. »
The man thinks it would be easy to take these stories from series and continue them through movies, and vice-versa:
“I love the ability to be really agnostic about what platform it’s built for. And so it could be, along the way, that a series becomes a film and a film becomes a television series. I’m not making any announcements, but I think it’s important for us to be agnostic. »
Series The Mandalorian will see its season 2 land in autumn 2020. A series Obi-Wan Kenobi with Ewan McGregor in the title role will follow and rumors about a series on Darth Maul whisper to each other.
