The Vancouver Canucks announced more bad news regarding forward Ilya Mikheyev on Thursday, as he left the team’s training camp for “personal reasons.”

The organization did not provide further details regarding the duration of the former Toronto Maple Leafs player’s absence. However, this isn’t the first time Mikheyev has encountered issues during training camp.

Last year, when he had just signed his four-year contract with the team, the Russian striker injured his anterior cruciate ligament. At the time, he started the campaign despite this problem, before throwing in the towel at the end of January to have surgery. Since then, he has not participated in a regular season game.

During the 2022-2023 campaign, Mikheyev has 13 goals and 15 assists for 28 points in 46 games.
