The boy’s body was found Thursday in Perpignan, in the south of the country. The father, aged 28, was placed in pre-trial detention, regional prosecutor Jean-David Cavaille told AFP.
The father is also accused of attempted murder of his two daughters, aged three and four. Meanwhile, the boy’s uncle and grandmother, aged 33 and 61 and both on his father’s side, were charged with failure to report a crime.
They were not placed in pre-trial detention but placed under judicial supervision.
As for the state of health of the two young girls, both hospitalized, medical examinations “revealed multiple scars on the body and face,” said the prosecutor.
The boy’s autopsy is scheduled to take place Monday. Both the mother and his mother are receiving psychological support, the prosecutor said. The circumstances of the boy’s murder remain to be clarified.
