At the DICE awards ceremony in Las Vegas, The Last Guardian director, Fumito Ueda, received the trophy for the performance given by the character of Trico in The Last Guardian. During his appearance on stage to collect his prize, the person indulged in a small statement aimed at teasing the next project from his studio.
Ueda-san explained that during the development of The Last Guardian he didn’t think much about winning awards, but now that he received the Outstanding Achievement in Character award, he feels very happy, and that the latter gives him the inspiration and desire to work on his next game.
No further details were given on what project Ueda-san might be working on over the next few years, but following his departure from Sony Interactive Entertainment Japan Studio a few years ago, he is now the head of its new genDESIGN studio. This means we really have no idea which platforms will host the title, or whether Sony will be involved in any way.
