Apple is preparing to roll out iOS 17.2

A month after the launch of iOS 17.1, which notably introduced new customization options for the locked screen such as Random Photos mode, Apple is preparing to deploy the iOS 17.2 update, currently in beta phase.

Scheduled for the month of December, this iteration comes with various fixes, improvements and new features, including the Journal application. We take stock.

1. Keep a diary

This is the main innovation of version iOS 17.2: Apple now offers a diary application, allowing you to “write down your thoughts on a major event in your life or tell the anecdotes that make up your daily life”, explains the firm. Able to draw from other applications (Photos, Health, etc.) and make subject suggestions using the automatic learning method, the Journal application can also be secured in several ways, either with Face ID , Touch ID or with a code. 2. Add new widgets to the home screen

On the next version of the iPhone operating system, Apple is introducing new widgets that can be displayed on the home screen. Concretely, the Weather application now offers the addition of vignettes Details (wind, UV index, precipitation), Daily forecast And Sunrise and sunset. The Clock application is equipped with a thumbnail in digital format in addition to the analog one. As a reminder, just long press on the home screen, then click on the button + located in the upper left corner, to display the available widgets.

3. React to a message with a sticker

In addition to the feature introduction iMessage Contact Key Verification, allowing you to authenticate the user with whom you are communicating using a verification code, the Messages application also has a new option, allowing you to react to a message by adding a sticker. To do this, simply hold down the received message and click on the button Add a sticker.

4. Create collaborative playlists on Apple Music

Like Spotify, Apple Music now allows the creation and modification of collaborative playlists. Additionally, the on-demand music service offers a new default playlist, named Favoritesand which, as its name suggests, brings together all the songs recorded and enjoyed by the user.

5. Translate a text using the Action button

Introduced on the iPhone 15 Pro and the iPhone 15 Pro Max, the Action button, which replaces the switch to activate or deactivate silent mode, incorporates a new functionality, Translatewith iOS 17.2, in addition to the previous shortcuts available like Flashlight, Camera Or Concentration. Thus, by clicking on this button, the iPhone 15 will now be able to translate the text heard orally into several languages.
