A power outage deprived 115,000 homes of electricity for several hours on Sunday evening September 3, reports France Bleu Loire Océan. This incident caused difficulties in accessing emergency telephone numbers. The return to normal took place around 10 p.m.
The power outage occurred around 6:45 p.m., due to a major power outage on an RTE installation, indicates France Bleu Loire Océan. Several power stations were affected in the north-west of Vendée: those of Soullans, Challans, Beauvoir-sur-mer, Saint-Hilaire-de-Riez, Saint-Jean-de-Monts and Noirmoutiers.
Following this breakdown, calls via the mobile network to the north-west of the department were disrupted, causing difficulties in reaching emergency numbers, the Vendée prefecture warned in a press release on Sunday evening. The prefecture then recommended to the population to “prefer the number 112, calls from a landline or via another operator”.
