The day after a road accident which cost the life of Baptiste Massardier, the Departmental Fire and Rescue Service (Sdis) of the Loire which employed him communicated elements on his service records.

Sergeant Baptiste Massardier had been a professional firefighter since 2005. He began his career at Sdis du Nord before joining the Loire in 2007, first in Roanne within the alert processing unit, then at the barracks of Saint- Etienne La Terrasse from 2009 to 2022.

Since 1^uh February 2022, he was assigned to the Montbrison barracks. He had also been a volunteer firefighter in Andrézieux-Bouthéon for two years, then in Sury-le-Comtal for eight years.

This September 5, it is 7:30 a.m. when Sergeant Massardier leaves his guard in Montbrison, on a motorcycle. Avenue de Bonson in Sury-le-Comtal, he violently hit another vehicle. Despite the rapid arrival of firefighters and Samu, Baptiste Massardier was declared dead. Aged 40, he was the father of two girls aged 8 and 12.

The announcement of his disappearance aroused great emotion within the large family of firefighters, and beyond. On social networks, Internet users salute the memory of a “great man who left too soon”. “Thank you for everything you have done for me, I will never forget,” promises Joanna.

The teams in which he worked wanted to greet their colleague. At the Montbrison rescue center, a meditation space has been set up for those who wish to “show their affection” for Baptiste Masssardier.

On Facebook, the firefighters indicate that “a guest book has been opened at the barracks; you can leave a memory, an anecdote to our friend. This book will be offered to his daughters who will see how much their dad was loved and appreciated. »
