Faker is one of the oldest professional League of Legends players, but he also just won his fourth world championship. So, will he retire in style?
Faker is the League of Legends player with the most victories to his name, both internationally and domestically. With such a brilliant track record and even winning his fourth Worlds on his first 10-year anniversary, it’s just crazy.
So, of course, some people are wondering if it’s time for Faker to retire, especially after having to sit out an entire month with a wrist injury earlier this year.
LoL Worlds 2023: “I’m under contract” – Faker not ready to retire
Faker at a press conference, to find out if he’s sticking around:
“I am under contract, I will continue to work at @T1LoL.
I have learned and grown a lot throughout my professional gaming career, it is a rare opportunity for a human being.
I will say that I will continue… pic.twitter.com/NN3G8hRrqZ

After winning their fourth World Championship, Faker and the rest of T1 went to their press conference, where they were asked about their future and which potential champions they would want for their commemorative Worlds skin.
Asked about retirement and whether Faker would stick around, he gave a simple, pragmatic answer: “”
So for anyone who thinks Faker is going to join the military – now exempt thanks to winning the 2022 Asian Games with South Korea – or that he’s going to sit back and become a coach or creator of content, you are probably very wrong.
Earlier in the tournament, Faker also revealed that he continues to learn as he plays, which shows how serious he still is and how hungry he is to improve and grow as a player.

Faker is still under contract with T1 until 2025, so we will see him for at least two more years in a T1 jersey.
Oner is still under contract through 2024, while the rest of the team will become free agents later this month. It will be interesting to see what T1 does and where the players will go.
