McCarthy, ally of Republican rebels: go ahead, make my day

Rep. Garret Graves has a plan to end the debate over whether Speaker Kevin McCarthy should be removed from office: by forcing a vote himself on whether or not to remove the president .

Graves, a staunch McCarthy ally, told CNN’s Manu Raju on Sunday that it was possible he would make a move to leave his seat this week to force the hand of the president’s enemies within the Republican caucus.

“I don’t think the speaker is even remotely concerned about some of the theatrics that are going on right now,” Graves (R-La.) told CNN. “Actually…I also drafted a motion to vacate the speaker. I have it on my desk right now. And I said, ‘Look, if you want to keep pushing this over his head and playing these games, let’s do it now, let’s get it over with.’ Finish your little games and then we’ll get back to the things that really matter.
