Naughty Dog: Uncharted and The Last of Us might never have seen the light of day

Uncharted And The Last of Us could they have seen the light of day if Naughty Dog had remained an independent studio? Nothing is less certain, according to one of its historic founders.

Before making the two above-mentioned series, the American developer was known for having created the sagas Crash Bandicoot And Jak and Daxter. After the success of the marsupial, Sony approached Jason Rubin and Andy Gavin, the two founders of the studio, with a buyout offer.
So they decided to sell, and according to Jason Rubin, it was a logical decision. However, it was not easy to make and they hesitated for a long time to do it, but Mr. Rubin told the IGN site that it was the best decision for the studio:

Our relationship with Sony was already established and so magical and surprising that it made complete sense for both parties. I think, personal life aside, it was the right decision for Naughty Dog. Look where the studio is today. Staying independent, I don’t think Naughty Dog could have done that. I don’t think you could have had all these games.
