The release of NBA2K24 is only a few days away. The game’s file size has now been revealed – and the Xbox Series X/S version of NBA2K24 surprises with a huge amount of download data, which will make preloading the game basically mandatory if you want to play on release day.
Yes, in 2023, you shouldn’t be shocked by AAA games whose file size exceeds 100 GB. However, for some games, one can definitely wonder why they need so much data. The NBA2K series is a good example.
NBA2K23 already required about 110 GB on an Xbox hard drive. And it looks like the next NBA2K24 will even far exceed this figure.
NBA2K24 on Xbox: File Size Surpasses Starfield and Flight Simulator
According to a screenshot from Reddit, the standard edition will need more than 160 GB of free space on your Xbox Series X/S. To put that into context: Starfield lets you travel to over a thousand planets and requires around 140 GB. And even Microsoft’s Flight Simulator, a game that lets you fly literally anywhere on the planet, only needs of “only” 150 GB.
You can expect the file size to increase over time, since 2K will most likely provide some fixes over time. So if you pre-ordered NBA2K24make sure to use the preload option which should start a few days before the release.
