As you undoubtedly know, we have had the Nintendo Switch for a few days now and are therefore fortunate to be able to carry out different types of tests on it. Today, we are going to look at its battery life in portable mode along with the game Zelda: Breath of the Wildthe only one we currently have.
Once the Switch was fully loaded, we needed to 2h53 of non-stop gameplay on Nintendo’s in-house production to overcome the console’s battery. But rest assured, the console does not suddenly turn off, causing you to lose all progress. An alert message is displayed on the console to warn us that the battery is nearing its end and that the console will switch to standby mode automatically. After this message, the console shut itself down in less than ten minutes while waiting to be placed in its dock.
Once placed on the dock in sleep mode, it took no less than 3h10 to fully load the new console from Nintendo. Of course, all that remains is to hope that the charging time does not increase with time and battery wear.
We remind you that we carried out this test without changing the console’s predefined settings, i.e. brightness at 50% and Wi-Fi disabled. Logically, if you increase the brightness of the screen, the battery life will be less on a demanding game like Zelda, and conversely, you will save a little playing time by lowering the brightness.
