Max Verstappen (Red Bull, 1st): 8.5

It certainly wasn’t his clearest victory. But it was still made very beautiful by one or two classy performances and, above all, a crazy pace in the final third. Three successes in the United States for the Dutchman this season. King of America.

Charles Leclerc (Ferrari, 2nd): 8.5

Real domination in the first part of the race, crazy braking to resist Verstappen and swallow Pérez on the last lap… The Monegasque did everything well, with the exception of a big scare on the 43rd lap which could have cost him dearly. Without this safety car, he could have been rewarded much better.

Sergio Pérez (Red Bull, 3rd): 6.5

“Checo” took advantage of two clear stops to find himself at the forefront and ensure his status as vice-champion in 2023. But he did not exist in a duel with his teammate which ended short. And I bruised myself on the last lap for the second time in two weeks.

Esteban Ocon (Alpine, 4th): 8.5

16th at the start, 4th at the finish. The Frenchman put in a first-class performance, with daring overtaking – of which he is a true specialist – perfect tire management and a ___fight won cleanly against his teammate Pierre Gasly.

Lance Stroll (Aston Martin, 5th): 7.5

The big winner from the start is him! With 10 places gained, he made good use of his “soft” tires and then led an intelligent race. The Canadian hadn’t beaten Fernando Alonso consistently in ages. Hat.

Carlos Sainz (Ferrari, 6th): 7.5

Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes, 7th): 5.5

A great offensive run slightly spoiled by contact with Oscar Piastri. Damage.

George Russell (Mercedes, 8th): 3.5

For a time, the Briton had the podium in his sights. But a faulty steering wheel, after placing Verstappen in his blind spot, cost him dearly.

Fernando Alonso (Aston Martin, 9th): 3.5

Heroic at Interlagos, the double world champion got a little carried away at the first turn. He then struggled to snatch two points. A real cold shower.

Oscar Piastri (McLaren, 10th): 6

The Australian rookie came from the back of the grid but was unable to avoid an early stop after the collision with Hamilton. Small contact, big consequences since he was unable to bring his broken tires to the finish afterwards. He still saves two points, thanks to the best lap.

Pierre Gasly (Alpin, 11th): 4

How long it seemed, this 33-lap stint on “hard” tires. The Rouennais went from the foot of the podium to 11th place in the blink of an eye. The complete opposite of his teammate. A real victory after a brilliant qualification.

Alexander Albon (Williams, 12th): 4

One lap more than Gasly on “hard” tires, one position less at the finish. We could have hoped for better from Williams.

Kevin Magnussen (Haas, 13th): 3.5

Clearly, even in cool weather, the Haas continues to abuse its tires. The Dane didn’t have much better to hope for.

Daniel Ricciardo (AlphaTauri, 14th): 4

The AlphaTauri was in distress at Vegas but suffered less than Tsunoda.

Guanyu Zhou (Alfa Romeo, 15th): 5

His final result would probably have been very different if the second safety car had come out a few laps later. Unvarnished.

Logan Sargeant (Williams, 16th): 3.5

The American fell much lower than Albon after creating an illusion at the start of the race. There is still (a lot) of work.

Valtteri Bottas (Alfa Romeo, 17th): 3

What little hope he had was gone at the first turn. I’m looking forward to the end of the season.

Calendar and ecological aberration: F1 still in its bubble in 2024

Yuki Tsunoda (AlphaTauri, 18th): 2.5

Difficulties on all types of rubber and a race ended due to a gearbox problem. Quite a contrast with Sao Paulo.

Nico Hülkenberg (Haas, 19th): 2.5

We have felt a little demobilized these last few weeks. And his Haas did not want to take him to the end.

Lando Norris (McLaren, unranked): Not rated

Verstappen’s angry face in recent weeks was the victim of a high-speed scare after he lost control due to a bump. He was sent to hospital for further examination, but escaped without any serious injuries. Phew.
