Putin speaks with MBS and hails Russian-Saudi “multifaceted cooperation” – RT in French

The Russian president spoke on the phone with Mohamed bin Salman. The two men notably returned to Saudi Arabia’s accession to the BRICS and the common choice to lower oil production.

While the two countries have just agreed on a new reduction in their oil production until the end of the year, the Russian head of state Vladimir Putin spoke by telephone on September 6 with the fort of Saudi kingdom Mohamed bin Salman.

The Saudi crown prince thanked the Russian president for his support for Riyadh’s BRICS membership at the Johannesburg summit last August, the Kremlin reported. The day before, on September 5, the two countries had jointly decided to reduce their oil production until the end of 2023 to maintain the stability of crude prices.

“The interaction between the two countries in the OPEC Plus format was highly appreciated,” the Kremlin said. “The agreements reached on the reduction of oil production, combined with voluntary commitments to limit the supply of raw materials, help to ensure the stability of the global energy market,” it added.

Despite Western and American pressure to isolate and sanction Moscow, Riyadh has adopted a neutral policy towards the conflict in Ukraine. In addition, the Saudi kingdom also played the role of mediator for the exchange of prisoners of war. In addition, last August, Saudi Arabia had organized a meeting in Jeddah to promote the peace talks, a meeting in which Russia however did not participate.
