Red Dead Redemption will be backwards compatible with the Xbox One

Rockstar Games announced that Red Dead Redemption will be the next title to join the list of backward compatible games with the Xbox One. Owners of this title set in a western universe will be able to play it from Friday July 8.

From Friday, any owner of Red Dead Redemption on Xbox 360 will be able to play the game directly on their Xbox One regardless of the version they have (Red Dead Redemption, Undead NightmareAnd Red Dead Redemption: Game of the Year Edition.)

For players who do not have a physical version of the game, it will still be possible to download it digitally on the Xbox One from Friday.

The game was requested by fans, having won over 30,000 votes when the backwards compatibility program opened in June 2015, and was mistakenly made backwards compatible earlier in the year. Indeed, a glitch made the game briefly playable on the latest Microsoft console. The manufacturer apologized for the incident, and explained that this short play window was due to an emulation test of the title.
