Reduced LCS: The North American League will enter 2024 with…

Riot just announced on social media that they will be reducing the LCS to 8 teams. In 2024, the North American league will be remodeled and two teams will leave.

As has already been said, North American League of Legends LCS league will be reduced in 2024. Riot Games President of Esports John Needham announced that the LCS will be an 8-team league go forward. This means that two teams must take a step back, and we finally know which teams are:

Apparently a mutual decision was made with Golden Guardians and Evil Geniuses both leaving the LCS. According to the announcement, this change will allow more flexibility while preparing for the restructuring of the league. While there is no more information on exactly what this restructuring will look like, Needham claims that they will present the full LCS strategy in early 2024.

Golden Guardians and Evil Geniuses have also already released short statements on social media announcing their exit from the LCS and thanking everyone for their great time in the North American LoL league:

As written in Needham’s original post, the decision to reduce the LCS was made before free agency to allow affected players to find new teams and continue their careers in other leagues.
