Among the cities most marked by this urban violence is Marseille. Again the night was restless, Sunday July 2nd. There are 71 arrests and 7 police officers injured, even if the damage was more limited.

In the northern districts of Marseille (Bouches-du-Rhône), a car dealership has just been attacked on the night of July 2. On amateur images, we see looters fleeing in vehicles without plates. At least ten cars were stolen. On the canebière, the first tensions had started at the end of the day. Groups of highly mobile young people seem to be testing the police system. The city center is squared with two helicopters flying over the area.

GIGN and RAID teams

The anti-crime brigades chain the arrests. But that’s not enough to calm some rioters who are looting dozens of stores. The fires quickly multiplied, extinguished by marine firefighters. In the four corners of the city circulate elite teams of the GIGN and the RAID. During the night, a shopping center was also attacked. The Marseillais are waiting for the end of the violence. There are 71 arrests and 7 police officers injured, including one hit in the head by a pyrotechnic mortar.
