Spotify plans to make music sharing a little more mysterious with a new feature being tested.

Sharing music on Spotify is easy enough already, but the streaming platform wants to spice up that experience a bit. Indeed, Spotify is currently developing a new feature which could make sharing music much more intriguing than before.

Spotify: A test feature for mysterious music sharing

First spotted by Twitter user @SaadhJawwadh, the new feature will allow a song to be shared as a “sound surprise”. When selecting this option in the share sheet, a gift icon appears. When the recipient receives the song, no album or track information is visible to them until they click to listen.

ThisThis mysterious sharing function is not limited only within the Spotify platform. It is also applicable when sharing to other apps as shown in the screenshots with Instagram. In this case, Instagram users will click the “Play on Spotify” button to discover the shared song.

As of today, it is not yet clear when this new feature will be available to the general public.. However, since the Twitter user managed to activate it, it is plausible to think that the rollout could be imminent.
