Switch Pro revealed in latest Switch update?

The data miners (you know, the ones who go looking for information hidden in the lines of code) have once again set to work. And this time it’s to unlock the secrets of this new Nintendo Switch update. Indeed, although innocuous in appearance, this patch would contain evidence of a new dock, designed for a newer model system.

(Nintendo Switch Firmware Update)

About my earlier tweet about update 12.0.0 being able to upgrade the dock firmware…

There is also this setting:

“is_crda_fw_update_supported”

“CrdA” = Cradle (Dock) for Aula. Aula is the codename for the new model.

hall is supposed to be the codename for the Nintendo Switch 4K. And this new patch would contain lines of code that serve as configuration for the Aula dock. Interesting, but could turn out to be just a dock update for the current Switch – although so far it’s never received one before, as OatMealDome notes:

The Dock itself only contains USB chips, a MyDP -> HDMI converter, and flash memory to store its firmware. I’m not sure what the point of an update would be considering how basic it is inside. (As far as I’m aware, it has never received one before.)

The dock itself only contains USB chips, a MyDP -> HDMI converter, and flash memory to store its firmware. I’m not sure if there’s any point in an update given how basic its interior is. (As far as I know, he has never received one before)

The same source further mentions how the 12.0.0 update adds the following internal setting: “4kdp_preferred_over_usb30”which seems to make sense given the rumors of a 4K output for the new model:

(Nintendo Switch System Update)

12.0.0 adds this internal setting:

“4kdp_preferred_over_usb30”

I’m NOT SAYING that this is “Prefer 4K DisplayPort over USB 3.0”.

But, if it is, it makes sense. The Switch uses DP for video output, and 4K output is rumored for the new model. pic.twitter.com/mFDbR6TAQF

I’m not saying it’s “Prefer 4K DisplayPort over USB 3.0”.
But, if so, it makes sense. The Switch uses DP for video output, and the new model is rumored to come with 4K output

If these clues continue to support a rumor that is already very credible given the many clues, we can nevertheless ask ourselves questions. Nintendo didn’t go to great lengths to hide this information, and it may be on purpose.
