The time for the verdict has come!
This time, immerse yourself in a memorable interstellar journey with Star Ocean: The Second Story R, a JRPG rebuilt by Square Enix to adapt to the new performance of our machines! The story begins with the choice between two protagonists, Claude and Rena, whose destinies intertwine in an epic quest. Claude, son of an intergalactic hero, finds himself catapulted into the unknown after an investigative mission. He meets Rena, an inhabitant of the planet Expel, and together they embark on an adventure strewn with mysteries, monsters and discoveries about their own pasts.
Square Enix has therefore taken the reins of this JRPG classic, already revamped in 2009 on PSP, to give it a new lease of life on Switch, PS4 and PS5. In our review video, we dive into the Star Ocean universe, exploring its narrative and reinvigorated combat system. What are the qualities that make this remake shine? What are its possible flaws? Join us on an intergalactic journey in our comprehensive video review, where we dissect every aspect of Star Ocean: The Second Story R. Find out if this adventure is worth revisiting, whether you’re a long-time fan or a new explorer of this fantastical world!

====Brief summary of the experience in video====
Strong points :
- We like the artistic direction!
- The OST is one of the best heard in 2023 on a game!
- Characters who have charisma,
- A main quest that makes us want to move forward!
- Dynamic fights,
- Many elements and details are present in the 3D settings
- Expressive 2D character sprites.
- It’s subtitled in French!
Weak points :
- Textures appear late (limited depth of field)
- Ubiquitous loading times (even if it’s short… it’s present and numerous!).
- Once finished, replayability is limited,
- Enemies who do not announce themselves once the fight begins.
Note :
– 16/20
