Sweaty Google, Stadia was close to being challenged by Walmart. His immense success could have taken a hit.

This is one of the leaks from the lawsuit between Epic and Apple which is currently being played out before American justice: Walmart was planning a cloud gaming service which was discontinued.

In an exchange of emails, a piece of evidence added to the file and that the drafting of JVL was able to read, the co-founder of Epic, mark rein announces to haveplayed a Walmart demo on an Android phone (with an Xbox controller) and the experience was on par with a PS4, and better than an Android or iOS game“.

They also sent it (the game) to laptop in real time (video stream jumped from phone to laptop instantly) and I played it there too. Again, this was MUCH better than playing on my daughter’s Surface Pro laptop (the most expensive version, no less!) or the crappy commercial laptop they brought

This ProjectStorm was already well planned, with a beta scheduled for July 2019. The service would have been deployed on PC only, through proprietary launchers such as Steam, Epic Games Store,, Uplay, Origin or the Bethesda launcher. It looks like the onset of the pandemic has broken the momentum of the world’s biggest retail franchise, who eventually abandoned the idea.
